COOP PROFILE

  • Date registered and covering documents or decrees:

    • May 8, 1980 was the day ZAMSURECO II came into being. It was registered and incorporated with the National Electrification Administration.

  • Operational Milestones

    • December 20, 1980, the significant first pole was erected at Titay, Zamboanga Del Sur then, by the Interim Board of Directors with the Acting General Manager, Danilo C. Angeles, a NEA Projects Supervisor.
    November 14, 1981, the National Power Corporation finally commissioned ZAMSURECO II. Since then, rapid energization took place until total electrification Del Norte was energized on November- 27, 1995.

    September, 1985, was the period when permanent local General Manger, Engr. Jesus Y. Castro was appointed to spearhead the electrification program in the entire coverage area.

    Since the start of its`operation in 1981, ZAMSURECO II initially was in Category E. It however rose annually from ranks, to Category D, C, B and finally to “A” in 1985. The coop maintained its level. In 1995, the cooperative was elevated to Category “A+”. In years, while it maintained its` level of high performance, ZAMSURECO II has been recognized by NEA with several awards.

    The awards received in 2003 is in recognized of the Coops` achievements that are not just apparent of its dedication in service but most significantly, the untiring support gained from the Board of Directors and the Member-Consumers Owners (MCOs).

    It was not an easy uphill climb for along the way, there was the Abu Sayaf assault on April 4, 1995 in Ipil where ZAMSURECO II’s largest electricity sales is derived from, the blaze that put to ashes ZAMSURECOII’s Warehouse and the Engineering Department Building and the several fires that burned some big towns in the area.

    With GOD’s grace and love, all the odds that harass the Coop’s existence have been surpassed with great fait and unity among the Member Consumers and the Management.

    Being peak of its ,performance level is not what ZAMSURECO II aims at, but rather to be at the peak of consumer satisfaction for the service it renders. Hence, ZAMSURECO II does not rest at its laurels, but aims to continue to cater quality, reliable and affordable electric service to supplement the government`s aim of providing economic upliftment in the countryside and satisfy the basic needs of its people for global competitiveness.



Description of the Service Area

It was originally tasked to energized 20 municipalities and a City district namely;Lakewood,Kumalarang,Bayog,Lakewood, All of Zamboanga DelSur;Alicia,Buug,Diplahan,Malangas,Imelda,Siay,Kabasalan,Naga,Ipil,Titay, R.T.Lim,Tungawan,Mabuhay,Talusan,Olutsnga,all of ZamboangaSibugay; Baliguian,Sibuco,Sirawai and Siocon, all of Zamboanga Del Norte; And the District of Vitali,Zamboanga City.

In 1983, the Alicia Electric Cooperative,Inc.(ALELCO) that serves the lone town of Alicia itself was merged to ZAMSURECO II.In the almost the sameyear,Surabay,a Barangay of Ipil,Zambonga del Sur then,became anIndefendentMunicipality,now officially known as Roseller T. Lim;and in the same manner,Baliguian,which was once a Barangay of Siocon, Zamboanga Del Norte

This finally brought to a total of 23-municipalities and a city district Coverage of ZAMSURECO II at present.

February 24, 2001,the western half of Zamboanga del Sur gained Independence from its mother province,now known as the new ZamboangaSibugay Province. For this, ZAMSURECO II is presently/

Serving 3-Provinces of ZamboangaPeninsula.The Municipalities of Lakewood,Kumalarang and Bayog,remain a part of Zamboanga del Sur,whilethe other 16-municipalities is now covered by the newprovince.



Division into Districts

As mandated,ZAMSURECO II conducts Regular District Elections every June of each year based upon the stagger terms-of-office at the Board of Directors,consequently,the conduct of the annual assembly from February To August,starting 2008.

The seven Districts of the Coop shall composed of:

  1. District I-Buug,ZamboangaSibugay,Bayog,Kumalarang and Lakewood,all from Zamboanga Del Sur
  2. District II-Malangas,Diplahan,Imelda and Alicia,Zamboanga Sibugay
  3. District III-Kabasalan,Siay and Payao,ZamboangaSibugay
  4. District IV-Ipil,Titay and Naga,ZamboangaSibugay
  5. District V- R.T.Lim and Tungawan,all from Zamboanga Sibugay,Vitali District of Zamboanga City
  6. District VI-Siocon,Sirawai,Baliguian and Sibuco,all from Zamboangadel Norte
  7. District VII-Mabuhay,Talusan and Olutanga,Zamboanga Sibugay
